Hello and welcome to my website!

I am a retired university professor in jazz studies, a performing musician, and author. We moved to Camarillo, CA in 2017 to be close to family, and it’s great to be back home! I play gigs on saxophones, flute, clarinet, keyboard, and vocals. I’m also a caregiver for Toni, my wife and soul mate, who suffered a near-fatal traumatic brain injury in an accident. She is a living miracle, and one of the sweetest beings on the planet!

My experiences in academia, performing, and caregiving have literally compelled me to research and write a book about – (drum roll, please!) HAPPINESS AND WELL- BEING!

The value of being happy – the huge benefits that come with doing what you love and enjoying life, is all in my new book, which I can’t wait to share with you!  By the way, Toni has a nickname—the 'blue-nosed gopher', and I share with you her unfiltered wisdom in my book about the meaning and value of life!

My new book is available now!

Well I’ll Be a Blue-Nosed Gopher…Practicing Happiness Now!

As a performing musician, I know that to be good at anything requires regular practice, so why not practice happiness to improve our well-being?

I offer the reader 43 "Happiness Steps" to help us cope with today's challenging world, along with refreshing perspectives from one who is not a psychiatrist or counselor.

I am a full-time caregiver for my wife Toni, who suffered a traumatic brain injury and the loss of use of one arm.

Toni is a beautiful being; happy all the time. She does not recall most of her life or what she was able to do before her accident, but she doesn't worry about what she can no longer do.

She is a great example of how to live in the present moment, and reminds me of the value of living life according to what really matters.
